OUR PHILOSOPHY

Historic Issues

After years of asset managing, maintaining, and cleaning a wide variety of older PV systems designed and built by others, we collectively became frustrated with the ongoing issues we persistently faced that simply shouldn’t happen.

For example, arrays and inverters with no safe access or space considered to safely access all equipment, trying to maintain systems built on fragile roofs, ongoing water ingress issues within electrical connectors, low-quality and poor choice of equipment’s which kept failing, lack of ventilation leading to system’s overheating, lack of monitoring systems required for fault investigations…the list goes on!

Most issues were simply down to a combination of either budget constraints, poor design, or poor workmanship.

Having learnt how not to install solar PV systems, moving forwards we knew we could do significantly better, and so had a vision to create a company offering to build only high-quality, optimised, highly efficient and performing, reliable, low-maintenance solar PV systems for customers who only want the very best.

O&M Services

Our vision was to also offer high quality operation and maintenance services to keep solar PV systems performing well and operating safely. We hope you share our vision too.

Our friendly team includes a multitude of experienced sales, project, and operational managers, plus electricians, and installers. Collectively we have decades of solar industry experience covering a wealth of different project types from residential, commercial, and agricultural, to educational, solar parks and even floating solar. Steve Williams / Managing Partner

Steve is a partner and Managing Partner at SolarHQ. Steve is also the founder & Managing Director of award-winning solar O&M company Clean Solar Solutions, plus CEO of Clean Solar Solutions America, MD of Solar O&M Consultancy Ltd, MD of International Solar Cleaning Academy (ISCA), plus owner and Managing Director of Scaring Birds which offer products and consultancy for bird deterrent solutions.

Steve has produced many white papers and was awarded 'U.K. Industry Innovator of the Year' in 2019 for pioneering solar panel cleaning techniques and research into lichen growth on solar panels.

Steve is also the chair of the Solar Energy UK O&M working group. He is passionate about public speaking and educating people about life skills. and is a keynote public speaker at many industry trade events such as Solar & Storage Live in the UK. He has a can-do attitude and is passionate about working safely and upholding a good reputation. Therefore, Steve has become recognised globally as an industry leading Solar Panel O&M & cleaning consultant.

Andrew Hancock / Manager

Andrew is a manager at SolarHQ. Andrew graduated from Reading University in 2007 with a 1st Honours MSc degree in Renewable Energy, Technology & Sustainability. He has since worked in many notable PV companies and has a wealth of experience including sales, design, procurement, site, and asset management for residential, commercial, agricultural, and educational clients.

In his previous role Andrew was a Rooftop asset manager managing Europe’s largest commercial PV portfolio. Andrew now heads up our Installation, Operation & Maintenance services. He is also a member of the Solar Energy UK O&M working group. Andrew is passionate about working safely, detailed design, maintaining solar PV systems and upholding a good reputation.

Ypatios Moysiadis / Partner, Director

Ypatios Moysiadis started working in renewables 15 years ago, capitalizing on the legislative introduction of renewable energy incentives. Over the years he expanded his scope into the development, construction, and operation of renewable energy assets. This work led to posts at major British and international organizations like Galliford Try Group, Grupotec, Foresight Group, BayWa r.e., and Voltalia Group, working in several spot markets and countries. Ypatios has worked across the value chain on all major renewable technologies, with an emphasis on Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage.

Today, Ypatios is the Managing Partner of Wattcrop (an award-winning energy startup in Greece part of Macquarie Green Investment Group) focusing on the development of new generation projects internationally and the advancement of innovation within the services sector of Renewable Energy. He is a visiting lecturer at Cass Business School London and ESCP Business School Paris and promotes Renewables as an author and active blogger.
